Celebrate the release of SweetWater Brewery’s new herb-infused G13 Beer this Friday!

Imagine a beer that smells just like a fresh batch of herb and tastes just as good. Well if that’s your idea of a perfect world, you’re in luck! SweetWater Brewing Company is getting ready to release their new herb-infused brew, the G13 IPA, at their upcoming release party! Come join the celebration of the 420 strain at SweetWater Brewery this Friday, July 13, from 4:20 p.m.-10 p.m. and see what the hype is all about. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed! If you need more convincing, they will be offering pints of G13 beer for the catchy price of only $4.20; the first 100 people to buy a pint will get a limited edition glass! There will also be food, live music and special tours to sweeten the deal.

If you’re a skeptic, SweetWater is in the business of making believers. I had the honor and privilege of getting up-close-and-personal with the G13 IPA during our podcast with English Nick and SweetWater Brewery several weeks back and it changed my life. I just lifted the glass and let the magic happen. If I hadn’t had my eyes open, I would’ve thought I was inhaling the real thing.  This beautiful hybrid is the love child of beer and herb connoisseurs alike.

Don’t be fooled! There’s no herb in the beer, it’s just the master brewers at Sweetwater mimicking the taste of the culturally renown G13 government strain of marijuana (as seen in the opening scene of Pineapple Express). Aside from the distinct aroma, the G13 beer touts a taste worth mentioning. The taste does not invoke the Woodstock vibes as intensely as the scent, but does have a certain familiarity. Imagine if you could take the “special” flavor from a “special” brownie and imbue that quality unto a humble IPA. The weed-buttery essence (again, all from the natural flavors of the beer) is complemented perfectly by the crisp bitter of the IPA, bringing each sip to a happy, mellow, and tasteful harmony.

This is a beer anyone could pick up and drink, much like its parent beer the Sweetwater 420. Not too bitter, not too sour, not too soft. There’s much to be said for the love that went into this beer, and it shows with the complexity and interwoven layers of flavor that find their way into every sip of this beer. I can’t wait for it to hit shelves (and my fridge) but in the meantime, this launch party is your chance to see if the hype is true or if we’re all just blowing smoke!

You don’t have to take my word for it. In fact, our entire team was pretty impressed, and that’s saying a lot. Never mind the fact that English Nick openly advocated for the new G13 beer on our podcast. He was probably more excited than all of us combined! We didn’t stop at the taste-testing though. By the end of the night, we were all balancing a pint of G13 on one hand and talking business on the other, just like the professionals that we are. What can I say? We know how to have a good time!

InterBrews Ep. 1 – The G13 Experience with English Nick & Sweetwater Brewing

Welcome to Episode 1 of our new ATL by Day InterBrews series, “The G13 Experience with English Nick & Sweetwater Brewing!”

As a part of our focus on local Atlanta, this series will be all about putting the spotlight on Atlanta celebrities, artists, and residents while indulging in Atlanta’s latest and greatest brews. The interview hosts include veteran podcasters Chester & The Shrew from Unfinished Business, and members of our own team. For our first installment, we had the great pleasure of sitting down with English Nick of 97.1 The River and 10 High / Dark Horse’s Metalsome Live Karaoke. He’s been in the Atlanta music scene for decades and knows a thing or two about beer. Check him out at Metalsome Karaoke at the Roxy tomorrow!

Our venue for this podcast was Atlanta’s own Sweetwater Brewery! They set us up with a fantastic tasting list including their new G13 “herb-infused” beer, Tropical Lover, Triple Tail, and Coffee Porter. Jake, a member of Sweetwater’s marketing team, will join in the later part of the podcast to guide our group through their tasting journey. Listen to the interview below to hear why this episode earns the title “The G13 Experience”.

We had a great time and we’re looking forward to working more with our guests and hosts, and making more Interbrews! Keep an eye out for Episode 2!
