Top Things to Do in Atlanta This Weekend and Week 7/2-7/8

Happy Independence Day week everyone! It’s the 4th of July this Wednesday and our calendar shows it with tons of featured events to choose from. We’ve also catered this week to our OTP friends with various events in areas like Roswell, Covington, Sandy Springs, and more to make sure everyone can catch the fireworks! We also have summer themed events this week at BeetleCat and Ponce City Market. Don’t forget to wake up early for the AJC Peachtree Road Race!

Monday

Social:

  • Stone Mountain Park’s 51st Annual Fantastic Fourth Celebration continues all week! Voted a “Must-See Fireworks Show” by USA Today and a Reader’s Digest pick for “America’s Most Spectacular Fourth of July Fireworks,” you’ll get seven full days honoring the US of A. Catch lasers, music, water effects, and drones as they all bring the show to life.

Tuesday

Food and Drink:

  • BeetleCat’s Taco Luau is back for independence day week! Embrace the pre-Independence Day summer vibes for a beachside vacation takeover featuring chef Andrew Isabella’s pig roast with a special menu, set to live DJ beats. Menu highlights include caja china pig with beachside-inspired taco fixins’, pineapple kimchi, Hawaiian potato salad, chipotle lime slaw, sauce diablo, street corn and black bean salsa.

Wednesday

Food and Drink:

  • Watch the fireworks with the best view in town at the Ponce City Market rooftop! Their Rooftop Backyard Luau BBQ will treat you to the best BBQ, drinks, live music and games while you watch the lights all evening and night. Your ticket will include access to see the live band, a BBQ buffet dinner, and a drink. Get up to the VIP level and you’ll knock your dinner up to the next stage with a suckling pig roast, dessert display, exclusive seating, and double the drink tickets.

Social:

  • The first Fireworks in the Fourth Ward festival is this year, with free family-friendly festivities! You’ll get food from local vendors, food trucks, King of Pops, wine, brews, and of course, fireworks!
  • Come to the Georgia World Congress Center for their famous July 4th bash! Music and festivities abound with headliners including R&B quartet After 7, Keisha Jackson, Christian Jones, and more.
  • Celebrate Independence Day at Georgia Aquarium on Wednesday, July 4 with unlimited beer and cider samples, classic BBQ dinner, live music, and over 500 aquatic species! Red, White and Brew will be held in their magnificent Oceans Ballroom with views of our beluga whales, manta rays and whale sharks. At the end of the evening, Red, White & Brew guests are invited to the top level of our parking deck for a view of downtown Atlanta’s Fourth of July Celebration spectacular fireworks show. 21 and over only.

Sports:

  • It’s nearly time for the AJC Peachtree Road Race! This is one of Atlanta’s biggest races of the year, a 10k sponsored by ATL’s own Journal Constitution. Register to run, volunteer to help out, or just grab a good seat and watch everyone else do the work! The race starts in Buckhead near Lenox Square Mall and ends in Piedmont Park.

Thursday

Comedy:

  • On the first Thursday of every month Cocktails and Comedy Night at the Pinewood in downtown Decatur. Featuring both locally grown and nationally touring comics as well as signature cocktails from the Pinewood’s expert mixologists. Reservations are STRONGLY SUGGESTED as seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. No cover fee, but there is a two-order minimum per person.

Art:

  • Thank goodness it’s Friday at the High Museum of Art! On the first Friday of every month, you can count on the High for drop-in art making, live performances, and drinks for purchase from 6 to 9 p.m. Part art party, part happy hour—and did we mention all programming is free with Museum admission?

  • Come out for the all-you-can-eat madness at the SouthEast Crab Feast! There are three sessions so there will be plenty of crab to go around.

Music:

  • 97.1 The River is getting ready for their annual birthday bash with Foreigner, Whitesnake and Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening!
  • The Night Nation Run is the World’s 1st Running Music Festival an ultimate blend of a Music Festival and a Fun Run. Experience a music filled course with Live DJs, Light Shows, Bubble Zones, Neon and Black Lights. Cross the finish line into an Epic Main Stage After Party featuring Top Headliner DJs.

Bars & Brews:

  • Come out for Rosé All Day and sip on some Rosé Cider with Urban Tree Cidery! On July 8th from 12:30 to 6:30 P.M. the one and only Urban Tree Cidery will be serving an assortment of Rosé and cider-based cocktails.
