Best Events This Week and This Weekend 6/18-6/24

Hey everyone! It’s going to be a fun week, with some great upcoming shows like Freaky Friday in Piedmont Park, Hall & Oates, and frickin Kevin Bacon in town! Get out to these shows and check out the Atlanta Dungeons and Dragons Bar Crawl while you’re at it!

Monday

Music:

  • Discover the art behind making fresh pasta at Bellina Alimentari’s Pasta Making Class! The class is led by a seasoned chef, who will show you all of the steps to create delicious pasta at home. Following the cooking class, enjoy a tasting of the pasta made during class. Participants will also be able to take home their creations!

Tuesday

Bars & Brews:

  • Join Petals & Pints at Red Hare Brewery! Learn the art of flower arranging while drinking craft beer! At the end of the evening you can take home your arrangement! The event will last 1-2 hours and Alice’s Table will provide everything you need. Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty.

Music:

  • The Yardbirds will be at City Winery this week! The Yardbirds are absolute classics with former members including Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Jimmy Page. Their music encompasses the sound of classic rock n roll.

Wednesday

Comedy:

  • Check out Freaky Friday at Piedmont Park! This summer, audiences can enjoy FREE entertainment at Piedmont Park! Horizon Theatre’s comedic adaptation of Freaky Friday will return to the stage at Piedmont Park for a limited engagement from June 20-23, with all performances beginning at 7:30 p.m. Families and kids of all ages are encouraged to pack a picnic and enjoy free entertainment- reserve your tickets in advance!

Music:

  • Hall and Oates and Train will be playing at the Infinite Energy Arena! The show starts at 7pm and tickets start at $80.
  • Wanda Sykes and Tig Notaro will be in town performing and celebrating gay pride at the Fox Theatre! The show is brought to you by Atlanta Pride, and begins at 8pm.

Thursday

Comedy:

  • Check out Freaky Friday at Piedmont Park! This summer, audiences can enjoy FREE entertainment at Piedmont Park! Horizon Theatre’s comedic adaptation of Freaky Friday will return to the stage at Piedmont Park for a limited engagement from June 20-23, with all performances beginning at 7:30 p.m. Families and kids of all ages are encouraged to pack a picnic and enjoy free entertainment- reserve your tickets in advance!

Food and Drink:

  • It’s National Cookie Dough Day! Celebrate the right way with Atlanta’s own cookie dough experts at the Batter Cookie Dough Counter! Stop by their store at PCM, where 20% of sales will be donated to The Giving Kitchen.
  • Head to Bellina Alimentari for a Guided Whiskey Tasting! You’ll meat and cheese the finest whiskeys by Chattanooga Whiskey, the first distillery in Tennessee since prohibition times. Join them for a fun and interactive  workshop and a guided whiskey tasting accompanied by local and Italian charcuterie and cheeses.

Friday

Comedy:

  • Jojo will be playing at Terminal West at King Plow! The show runs from 8:30-10:30 and costs $32.

Saturday

Comedy:

Music:

  • The Bacon Brothers will be playing their rock, soul, funk Americana blend at City Winery! The two brothers are Michael and Kevin. Michael Bacon is a long-standing musician and songwriter, now recognized as an Emmy-Winning composer. His brother, Kevin Bacon, was in Footloose, Tremors, and a few other movies you may have heard of. Yeah, it’s that Kevin Bacon.

Social:

  • Atlanta Drunks and Dragons is putting on the Atlanta Dungeons and Dragons Bar Crawl! There will be 60 players participating with 12 tables, 3 bars, and one elaborate shared game of DnD. Anyone else that wants to join and play, or just observe is welcome to drop in! The Crawl costs $10 to play, and is free for non-players.

Sunday

Music:

  • Aly & AJ will be at Buckhead Theatre! Aly is from Phil of the Future, so I’m definitely a fan.

Social:

  • MASS Collective is holding an Auto Maintenance 101 class! Julia Hill will teach you the basics of maintaining and troubleshooting your automobile over this 3-hour course. You’ll learn parts of the engine, basic maintenance, troubleshooting, and quick repairs like changing spare tires, and jumping batteries.
