Best Events This Weekend in Atlanta: 5/21 – 5/24

We’ve received great feedback on our new calendar views! As a follow-up, we will be working on adding back categories to the “This Week” page, along with more info like descriptions and price!

This week is a big one! With Memorial Day Weekend coming up, there are a lot of HUGE events that we’re going to be featuring. In fact, we’ll shortly be posting a sneak preview post with all the Featured Events for this Memorial Day Weekend! Just to name a few we have Orpheus’s four year anniversary, Brew at the Zoo, Star Bar’s Bubbapalooza, and the Atlanta Jazz Festival!

Monday

No featured events this Monday!


Tuesday

Social:

  • Come to Science on Tap at the Georgia Aquarium! Science on Tap is the Georgia Aquarium’s adults-only science lecture series. This event will feature Dr. J. Mashall Shepherd, leading international expert in weather and climate.  Dr. Shepherd is a Distinguished Professor of Geography and Atmospheric Sciences at UGA and serves as Director of UGA’s Atmospheric Sciences Program. He hosts The Weather Channel’s Award-Winning talk show Weather Geeks. There will be a lecture in the Aquarium’s 4D theater space, followed by Q&A and time to mingle. The event will run from 6-9pm.

Wednesday

Comedy:

  • Whole World Improv has its Improv 201 Student Showcase from 8-9pm! Come see the stunning cast of Whole World Imrov 201 graduates! See what they’ve learned and get inspired to take classes yourself. The show is free to the public!

Food and Drink:

  • Ponce City Market’s Bellina Alimentari will be holding a fun and interactive pizza cooking class! Learn how to make Aperol Spritz and authentic Italian pizza from scratch, then enjoy drinking and eating your creations! The class runs from 6:30-8pm and costs $62.

Thursday

Bars & Brews:

  • Come out to Bark n’ Brew at Monday Night Garage! Grab a beer from the bar, enjoy some great eats from local restaurants, and mingle with great people and dogs. They will have Jurassic-themed activities including a dino-themed dog costume contest and more! tickets include food and two drink tickets for $25. All dogs in attendance get an exclusive bandana! Support the Atlanta Humane Society and head on over to Monday Night Garage from 6-9pm!

Comedy:

  • Come to Dad’s Garage to see the Hamilton-inspired show, Benjamin Franklin: American Gigolo. This will surely be the next great Founding Father story. Benjamin Franklin may have never been President of the United States, but his tale as King of the Players Club is a story worth telling! The show runs from 8-10pm and tickets are $12.50.

Music:

  • Bubbapalooza 2018 is here to bring you 4 big days of music at the Star Bar! Headliners include Roadkill Debutante, Ghost Riders Car Club, Anna Kramer & the Lost Cause, and Mark “Porkchop” Holder. Price depends on day, and ranges from free on Thursday to $15 for your ticket.

Social:

  • The year’s biggest anime/manga, gaming, and cosplay event is here with MomoCon! This event just keeps getting bigger, with tons of panels, special guests, and shows. All these events are nicely put together on their online schedule here! Make sure to register and get your ticket. Even if you’re not into the anime and manga scene, this Con has plenty for gamers too! Check out our pre-event article here!
