- This weekend’s biggest event is Sweetwater Brewery’s 420 Fest (AUTOPLAYING MUSIC WARNING). Three days of brews, jams, and comedy squeeze the Atlanta experience into a weekend sized nutshell for the price of admission. Check out the full schedule and lineup of events here. Tickets are also still available online here.
- Blair Crimmins and the Hookers will be playing at Venkman’s (740 Ralph McGill Blvd.) from 10pm-midnight. Blair Crimmins is an acclaimed Atlanta musician, with large venues and openings for acts such as Mumford & Sons under his belt and acclaims including critic’s pick for Best Song Writer of 2013 in Creative Loafing’s Best of ATL issue. Expect a New Orleans style and a great show, all starting at $12 dollars a ticket.
- Voodoo Visionary will be playing at Aisle 5 (1123 Euclid Ave NE) with openers The Groove Orient and Pk.Kid. Voodoo Visionary is an Atlanta band specializing in “psychofunk” with heavy Grateful Dead and Talking Heads influence. The Groove Orient is a high-power Florida Rock band. The show starts at 10pm and tickets are $10-15.
- Bon Jovi will be playing at Philips Arena at 7:30pm. Tickets start at $29, but you’re looking at closer to $100 if you want decent seats.
- Little Bird, The Ellameno Beat, and Jester will be playing at Smith’s Olde Bar (1578 Piedmont Ave NE) starting at 9pm. Tickets are $10 in advance, $13 day-of.
- Universal Sigh, Mo Lowda, and the Humble will be playing at Smith’s Olde Bar (1578 Piedmont Ave NE) starting at 9pm. Universal Sigh is a melodic jazz fusion high-energy rock show. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 day-of, and $7 day-of with your festival wristband. There’s also a 2-pack for $15.
- Dex Romweber will be playing at The Star Bar (437 Moreland Ave NE) with special guests Mark “Porkschop” Holder & MPH, and Bad Friend. The show runs from 9pm-midnight and tickets are $12.
- Eric Dodd will be playing at Eddie’s Attic (515 N McDonough St.). Eric was picked as a CMT Discovery Artist, and his video for the party anthem, “Outskirts” reached the #1 spot on CMT’s 12-Pack Countdown twice. Doors open at 8pm and the show starts at 9pm. Tickets run $13-17.
- Brandon “Taz” Niederauer will play at Terminal West (887 West Marietta St. NW C.) as part of Sweetwater 420 Fest’s Official After Party. Doors open at 11pm and the show begins at midnight. Tickets are $15.

- Venkman’s (740 Ralph McGill Blvd.) will be holding their free early show featuring Soul from this Century performed by Malachi Mills. It’s looking to be an evening of acoustic pop/R&B/soul music from 2000 and beyond, so make a reservation and stop by! The show runs from 6-7:15pm.
- John Driskell Hopkins of The Zac Brown Band will be playing at Venkman’s (740 Ralph McGill Blvd.) at 9:30pm. Tickets run $13-30. John is kind of a big deal and has plenty of originals all his own, so definitely come check this show out.
- PINK will be performing at Philips Arena at 8pm. Tickets start at $100, which is a bit too steep for my tastes.
- Alexa Rose and Aspen Anonda will be playing at Smith’s Olde Bar (1578 Piedmont Ave NE) starting at 6:30pm. Alexa has a rootsy, alternative folk sound, and Aspen is an Atlanta musician specializing in jazzy melodies overlaid with pop lyrics. Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 day-of.
- Trey Monroe ft. Random Ray, Fredo1K, and Ceddy B & IWurdPlay will be playing at Smith’s Olde Bar (1578 Piedmont Ave NE) starting at 7pm. Expect hip-hop and rap with local Atlanta influences. Tickets start at $15.
- Elzig, Bigfoot, B.S.O.L. w/DJ Howenstein will be performing at The Star Bar (437 Moreland Ave NE). The show starts at 9pm and tickets are $10.
- Ink + Ash will be playing at Eddie’s Attic (515 N McDonough St.). They describe their music as a “raw, uncut stone with hidden magic”. I usually paraphrase these descriptions but I’m at a loss for this one. Doors open at 9:15pm, show starts at 9:30pm. Tickets run $15-20.
- The Nth Power will play their powerful funk and soul jams at Aisle 5 (1123 Euclid Ave NE) as part of Sweetwater 420 Fest’s After Party. The show begins at 10pm. Tickets are $12-15.
Social:
- Fernbank Museum will host a special “Sensory Friendly” screening of the new movie, Backyard Wilderness 2D in recognition of Autism Awareness Month. The lights will be brighter and the sound will be lower and guests should feel comfortable talking, moving around and even leaving their seats. A special quiet area will be available upon request. The screening starts at 9am. See tickets here.
- Atlantic Station will hold its Earth Day Marketplace, featuring upcycled and eco-friendly products. The market will run from 11am-4pm.
- Ponce City Market’s Skyline Park (rooftop amusement park) will celebrate Spring and Earth Day with their Spring Fling. The event starts early, but the adult portion begins at 4pm. One Tree Planted will plant one tree per attendee, and guests can pick where they want their tree planted! Daytime admission is $10, and night admission is $15.

- Come to Dad’s Garage (569 Ezzard St. SE) to preview an improv class, for free, from 5-6:30pm. Space is limited, so you’ll need to RSVP through their site’s calendar. It’s a no-strings-attached way to sample the improv lifestyle!
- NerdLanta Live! will be at Joystick Gamebar (427 Edgewood Ave SE). It’s Atlanta’s only late night nerd talk show, and host Kris Bolz brings geek and pop culture news, guests, reviews, and prizes galore. Doors open at 8:30pm and the show starts at 9pm. Check out their upcoming events page to see what’s in store.
Food and Drink:
- The Cherry Blossom Salon (695 Somerset Terrace NE) will host a free event with a local artist pop up from 5-8pm. All donations will go directly to the Atlanta Humane Society. Pours will be sponsored by Unknown Brewing Co, Second Self, and Eventide. Pasta and appetizers will be provided by Saba. Plus a silent auction!
